Yomelela Tyali is the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Infrastructure Services in Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, based in East London, Eastern Cape. Serving under Executive Mayor Princess Faku, he leads the municipality’s efforts on urban infrastructure, including roads, sewage, and public facilities. A proportional-representation councilor and key ANC figure, Tyali took a prominent role during the 2023 “Valazonke” pothole initiative—leading mayoral imbizos focused on road repairs and addressing delays caused by the vacant HOD post for infrastructure. His strategic leadership in infrastructure reflects the municipality’s drive to improve services across its near-1 million population.
