Executive Mayor
Councillor Jeremy Fasser is the current Executive Mayor of Stellenbosch Municipality, having been elected on 29 November 2024 following the retirement of his predecessor, Advocate Gesie van Deventer. A longstanding member of the Democratic Alliance, he previously served as a PR councillor, Ward 17 councillor, Deputy Executive Mayor, and held multiple mayoral committee portfolios including finance, human settlements, youth, sport and culture, and protection services. Born and raised in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch, Fasser attended Cloetesville High School and maintains strong ties to the local community. Since taking office, he has prioritised infrastructure upgrades, alternative energy initiatives, investment and job creation, and inclusive governance through public consultation and Integrated Development Plan processes.
